wis·dom
/ˈwizdəm/
noun
the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgment; the quality of being wise. - Oxford Languages Dictionary
I believe that what the world needs, more than anything, is wisdom.
I do not say that lightly - there are things that I’d like better: love, truth, justice, mercy. However, the longer I live, the more I feel like all of those things follow wisdom. Or, more precisely, wisdom dictates both the understanding and application of those things.
Wisdom is tricky business. It isn’t merely what you’ve experienced, it isn’t just what you know, it isn’t as simple as what you’ve decided or deduced or concluded. It’s more comprehensive and robust than any of those things.
It’s more inclusive. Wisdom may use your mental faculties, but that’s not the extent of it. Wisdom can just as easily come from your gut or intuition. It may whisper from your heart. Wisdom knows that your whole body is how you live in the world and it uses every bit of it.
Wisdom is not a life hack. It’s a way of living more fully and completely.
It is not effortless, but it brings enormous comfort and ease.
It does not have happiness as it’s goal, but it does often have it as a side effect.
I have spent a great deal of time musing on wisdom - reading, writing, researching, living - and I think I have some insight worth sharing. That’s what this substack is. I hope you’ll follow along by subscribing (and letting me know what you think).
The world has need of wisdom. It’s our North Star. We can use it to navigate life.
Come, let’s journey together…
I can think of no one more qualified to speak on the subject of wisdom. You have it, and know what it is when you encounter it.
I look forward to the opportunity in sharing in your wisdom.
Yessssss , just don't ask me to do yoga again.
